Your First Red Light Therapy Session
Your first visit is designed to feel simple, private, and unhurried. We will explain the process, make sure you are comfortable, and give you clear guidance before your session begins.
What is red light therapy?
Red light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light (photobiomodulation). The light is absorbed by the body’s cells and is commonly used as part of wellness, recovery, and skin-care routines. Sessions are comfortable, require no downtime, and can be an easy addition to a consistent self-care or training routine.
Photobiomodulation means using light to influence biological activity. In this context, red and near-infrared light may interact with cells involved in repair, circulation, inflammation regulation, and tissue recovery.
Red Light Therapy is commonly used to support:
Recovery & performance
Commonly used after exercise to support muscle comfort, relaxation, and a consistent recovery routine.
Physical comfort
Often chosen by people looking for non-invasive support for everyday muscle and joint comfort.
Skin rejuvenation
Used to support skin health, an even-looking tone, and a healthy-looking complexion.
Relaxation & wellbeing
A calm, low-effort session that can support relaxation and an overall wellness routine.
Energy & routine support
Used by people who want a simple, light-based wellness practice that fits between work, training, and daily life.
What Makes Red Light Therapy Different from other non-invasive treatments?
Red light therapy is different because it uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light rather than needles, injections, heat, or aggressive resurfacing. Sessions are comfortable, non-invasive, and require no downtime, making them easy to fit into a recovery, wellness, or skin-health routine. The light is delivered directly to the areas you want to target, without breaking the skin or requiring a lengthy appointment.
Unlike treatments designed around one cosmetic concern, red light therapy can support several goals within the same straightforward session—from post-workout recovery and physical comfort to relaxation, skin health, and overall wellbeing. It’s a practical option for people who want a gentle, low-effort treatment that can be used consistently as part of their regular routine.
When You Arrive
Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment so there is time to check in, ask questions, and complete any required screening. Our team will walk you through the session and explain how to use the equipment comfortably.
How Long Your Visit Takes
Your red light therapy sessions typically run for 20 minutes. Allow a little extra time for check-in, and changing prior to the session as well as a few minutes to redress afterwards.
Initial appointments are scheduled for 45 minutes to allow enough time to provide you with orientation and familiarize yourself with the equipment and safety procedures.
What to Wear
Wear whatever helps you feel comfortable. For the light to reach the areas you want to target, that skin needs to be directly exposed during your session. You may wish to wear loose, easy-to-adjust clothing to facilitate easy removal.
Your session takes place in a private room, with time to disrobe, prepare, and get dressed again at your own comfort level. You’ll never need to feel rushed, and we’ll make sure you know what to expect before the session begins.
Eye Protection and Comfort
We provide protective eyewear and will show you how to wear and adjust it before your session begins. The room, positioning, and light intensity will be explained clearly so you know what to expect and can settle in comfortably.
If you have any questions about the equipment itself, where to position your body, how much skin to expose, or anything else during the session, please let our team know. We want your visit to feel calm, private, and comfortable from the moment you arrive.
What the Equipment Is Like
Red light therapy uses bright red and near-infrared light delivered by a dedicated light-therapy device. The light is directed toward the exposed areas you wish to target, where it is absorbed by the skin and underlying tissues. Sessions are non-invasive and do not involve needles, medication, injections, or downtime. You can simply relax in a private treatment room while the device is in use, then return to your regular activities when the session is complete.
What Makes Red Light Therapy Different from other non-invasive treatments?
Experiences vary from person to person. Some people find a session relaxing, while others make red light therapy part of their regular wellness, skin-care, or post-workout recovery routine. There is no downtime, so once your session is complete, you can get back to your usual day.
Like most wellness routines, consistency is often important for people looking to see and maintain their preferred results over time. Rather than treating red light therapy as a one-time visit, many clients choose recurring sessions that fit naturally into their week or month. That’s why we offer monthly and yearly memberships: they make it easier to build a consistent routine around your personal goals.
Results are not guaranteed, and red light therapy is not a substitute for medical assessment, diagnosis, or treatment.
Before you book
Red light therapy is a wellness service and may not be appropriate for everyone. Please check with a qualified health professional before booking if you are pregnant, have a medical condition, are under active medical care, have a light-sensitive condition, or take medication that may increase sensitivity to light.
If you are unsure whether a session is right for you, speak with your physician or another qualified health professional first. Vancouver Red Light Therapy does not provide medical assessment, diagnosis, or treatment.
